Wales lock Adam Beard set to join full training following appendix surgery

As he continues his comeback wales lock Adam Beard is set to combine complete World Cup training this week.
The Ospreys had an operation in Cardiff on Wales championship passing day over three weeks past.

He has been working hard, doing some additional weights sessions also, and hes rehabbed well.
Hes back to full practice this week, which hes performed well. He might be a couple of kilos down on what he was earlier, but that will not affect him in the match.

This ten-day turnaround (between the Australia and Fiji games) has allowed us a bit of time. The boys were a bit beaten up following the Australia match, therefore we had a couple of recovery days an optional session on day three, post-game.
We worked really hard at the pre-World Cup camps, but we also train very intensively when were together at a Exam week.
The coaching group allows us to get the power and conditioning work in that we desire.
We do not train for extended periods, however we train intensively, and since the coaches enable the boys some good healing period and a while off, we could make some great gains, even in tournaments.
Our trainers know that being strong and match rewards the team hugely in our matches, and they back us up about this. They are always banging that fitness drum with us.
Wales head coach Warren Gatland will name his team to face Fiji on Monday, and it looks like being a unchanged starting XV for a third match.
Gatland will make switches that are wholesale for Uruguay, when begins of this competition can realistically be expected for players such as James Davies, Rhys Carre, Dillon Lewis, Bradley Davies and Hallam Amos.

The game is a lot more running-based today, the contacts are bigger and it requires the boys a lot longer to recover from the matches.
The fitness of these boys in contrast to four decades ago, eight years ago… once I started in 2002, the game was totally different. You would not recognise it.
Because of the laws of the sport, I think players will stop getting much bigger. Its much more of a running-based game. You do not see props that are 140kg any longer because of the amount of running.
Itll level out and players body weights will plateau.
The game is getting faster all the time as players get fitter and faster, but I cant see it going much further using the rules weve got today.
