New York Yankees at Houston Astros MLB Pick – October 12th

All season long, it has looked as tonights American League Championship Series has been inevitable. Even the Houston Astros and the New York Yankees have been the best two teams from the league all year long and seeing those two matchup with a visit to the World Series online was constantly going to take place. Now the actual question comes, who wins tonight? And that wins the series?
Themselves are found by the Yankees in the ALCS after winning 103 games in the regular season and taking the American League East Division title. They won their division and then coasted into the playoffs healthy and rested for the first time. Despite being ravaged by injuries much of the year that the Yankees struck the home runs with 306 ever by a group. New York made quick work of the Minnesota Twins sweeping the Twins in three matches, and beating them.
For Houston, the Astros led the American League won the American League West Division title with a ten matches over the Oakland Athletics and in wins that season with 107. The Astros did have any trouble with the Rays though as that series went the full five matches. Houston had to take care of a set against the Rays that are plucky while the Yankees were house resting.
Starting for the Astros tonight in game one is Zack Greinke (0-1 14.73 ERA), and also for the Yankees it is Masahiro Tanaka (1-0 1.80 ERA). The game total over-under is placed at nine runs. The Astros have been -154 favorites. First pitch is scheduled for 5:08 PM PST from Minute Maid Park in Houston.
While the Yankees came up one home run among this all time record this season , they did so by using a 120 matches from Giancarlo Stanton along with sluggers Aaron Judge. Both of those guys had theyve been healthy all year, and have fifty-plus home run power, the Yankees could have easily completed with the greatest total ever. It is not much of an overstatement to say this is actually the hardest-hitting team in baseball history.
They matched up with the Twins, who ended the season at the ALDS, and totally destroyed them in three matches. To me, that place to rest the debate of which team had power. New York is healthful, and these few times of additional remainder are enormous for them. Not a lot of individuals are providing much of a shot in this series to New York, but I think the Yankees are going to discover a means to make this a very competitive series.
Masahiro Tanaka is not necessarily the most consistent man on the mound. However, when hes on his game, then hes as good as any guy in the American League. He goes out and completely shuts down a team as even a Gerrit Cole or a Justin Verlander, however he will get you more or seven innings of work that is very great. Six times this year, hes pitched longer or seven innings and allowed one run or less. There arent that many guys that could toss a stat line like this on the plank, and Tanaka is one of them.
Against the Twins, a whole seven days past, he was very strong because he held the hard-hitting Twins powerful lineup to just one run on only 3 hits while striking out seven. And eighty-three pitches threw. In his final start of the regular season, the Yankees kept him fresh as well as he threw just fifty-three pitches .
As may be tonight tanaka is relaxed and should they want him to really go deep inside the game, he is completely competent. In 2 begins this year, Tanaka has been very good against Houston. He tossed a joint twelve innings and allowed just 3 runs, good for a 2.25 ERA. The Astros hit only .244 against him as a team.
Houston will turn into the newly acquired Zack Greinke to start this chain off on a high note. Greinke was made in for just this type of situation, to win them games in the playoffs. But Greinke hasnt been very persistent in his period with Houston because he has allowed four earned runs or more five times in eleven starts for Houston. While he has been mostly good, he hasnt been around the level that Verlander and Cloe were, and fits in as a number three man, together with number three kind numbers, not actually the third ace they were expecting theyre getting when they traded for them in the trade deadline before this year.
I smell tonight in Houston! I knowI knowthe Astros are basically unbeatable in the home but hear me out. Zack Greinke hasnt been very good for Houston, also contrary to the Rays, at the ALDS, he was dreadful in what might have been an elimination game had he ever won. In that match, Greinke lasted only three and also two-thirds of an inning and got blasted for six earned runs, including three home runs. And that was against a Rays team that finished 21st in the majors. This Yankees team has considerably more power, and you need to wonder just how great Greinke is going to be tonight against one of the finest lineups in baseball history.
When you look at Tanaka, love him or hate him, this guy was great from the playoffs in his profession. In six career postseason starts, Tanaka has an ERA of merely 1.54. I think he finds a way to slow down whats to be a Houston staff that is tired tonight. I bet hes better than Greinke, although I dont believe he shuts them completly down.
And when you examine the purchase cost, it is hard not to enjoy getting a bunch of dog money to back a team as gifted and well-rested since the Yankees are at the moment. So, I will back the Yankees on the street since underdogs tonight !
