Harry Gagnon’s Week 2 Monday Night Matchup: Browns vs Jets

NFL Week 2 Monday Night Matchup: Cleveland Browns vs New York Jets

Cleveland -3 @ New York | O/U 46
This is a rematch of a contest between both of these teams in the year ago that the Browns won 21-17 at home. This was the match in which QB Baker Mayfield got his first shot because he completed 17 of 23 hooked up with WR Jarvis Landry eight times for 103 yards and passes, and he had been quite efficient.
Jets QB Sam Darnold fought pitching two interceptions without a TD and connecting on 50 percent of the passes.
Both the Browns and Jets are coming off disappointing losses in Week 1 and now find themselves. The Jets after Monday night are in New England, in Philadelphia, and then home for Dallas and — guess who — the Patriots . That is possibly.
On the reverse side, the Browns’ next five games are against teams that won last week and this list contains the Rams, Ravens (put up 42 points by half), Niners (had 2 pick-sixes),” Seahawks and, there they are , the Patriots.
Mayfield was horrible, throwing three picks, but I could see him bouncing back, particularly since he’s more weapons on offense as a whole than the Jets along with Sam Darnold do.
Le’Veon Bell bailed the Jets from a day offensively because he made a fantastic catch on third down and forced a better catch after. The Jets still lacked plays from recipients the field and I believe that’s about Darnold. He gets the crime predictable whereas Mayfield take shots and will create plays.
I can view Mayfield using end David Njoku running Nick Chubb gets to the corners and also has a game running the ball back and when needed.
By game’s end, lay the Browns & Baker dip and the 3 factors back, and get in the win column for head coach Freddie Kitchens.
Prediction: Browns 23 – Jets 16. Chubb gets 100 yards and a touchdown, Browns defense gets a pick-six. It’s Groundhog Day all over for Darnold as he throws no TDs and two picks and the Browns defeat New York again.
