Charlie Nicholas’ Champions League and Europa League predictions

Charlie Nicholas returns with his forecasts for the clubs this week, getting Europa League campaigns along with their Champions League under way.
You will find nine British clubs included in the competitions this season, including Liverpool, that want to defend their Champions League title.
And Soccer Saturday’s Charlie has awarded his forecasts for the forthcoming fixtures…
This will be a fantastic check for the Champions League holders. We watched a vulnerable side in the weekend to their defence, conceding after just seven minutes from Newcastle. They acquired and have walked away comfortably, but this is not the point.
The gap Roberto Firmino makes is incredible. He does not get the goals that Mohamed Salah has the pace that Sadio Mane does but he’s skill and cunning or gets. He’s a team player and is my favorite to watch, my favorite out of those three, though he may be much easier to mark than the other two.
Liverpool haven’t enhanced in midfield. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is still a fringe player. We all know they’re a fantastic side but these three have to be on their game.
Napoli are all maybe not convincing, although all-action and strong in the home from your home. Dries Mertens up just stones and does the job. Targets that are big are got by him and I expect him to grab another through the week.
CHARLIE PREDICTS: 2-1 (10/1 with Sky Bet)
Tammy Abraham’s goals are gigantic but the performances of Mason Mount have been impressive. All 11 Premier League goals have been scored by england U21 players so far that’s remarkable. I believed they’d be in trouble but I was incorrect. They have energy and pace that is great . It is an expansive means of playing for Frank Lampard.
Their manager was sacked by valencia and I don’t see them being flamboyant. They’ll attempt to counter-attack that will allow it to be hard for Mount and Abraham to understand.
CHARLIE PREDICTS: 1-0 (6/1 with Sky Bet)
This really is an awkward one. Tottenham were striking in the first half. They kept grasp of Christian Eriksen and things have calmed down a bit. So is that it has calmed down he started against Palace?
His staff has been changed by mauricio Pochettino and that is the reason why they seem vulnerable. These are dangerous teams, but this can be an awkward trip although I would imagine Tottenham would try to control ownership. Tottenham are unpredictable.
CHARLIE PREDICTS: 1-1 (11/2 with Sky Bet)
Manchester City discovered this one tough year. Shakhtar have consistently brought in a bit of pedigree but that is getting less and less as the years progress. They are not quite getting those names and it takes away the creative ability they were dangerous with. They are not quite certain maybe not or whether they need to be contesting.
City will probably be badly winded following the Norwich game. Aymeric Laporte is a huge overlook for them. I really don’t understand why Pep Guardiola chose to leave out Kevin de Bruyne at the weekend. This is going to be a comfortable win to acquire back the Premier League champions on course.
CHARLIE PREDICTS: 0-4 (12/1 with Sky Bet)
God knows what defence Unai Emery can select. I don’t know how often we will need to state it as Arsenal fans. They are good as would be the youngsters, moving forward. It is frightening how awful Arsenal are, although the balance from midfield front isn’t bad either.
What’s the allure to Sokratis Papastathopoulos? I would play with with Kieran Tierney on Thursday and see whether Hector Bellerin could begin. Seeing Sunday’s match against Watford, once you visit David Luiz giving instructions with 20 minutes ahead, you know that you’re in trouble.
Konstantinos Mavropanos remains game time away from being healthy. Though Shkodran Mustafi was brought back it would be the conclusion again. We will need to have Rob Holding, Bellerin and then Tierney back to the side when possible. I would take a hit and play with these players to give game time to them and allow them to get match fitness.
Nicolas Pepe was dreadful against Watford. Emery took Dani Ceballos and Mesut Ozil off was beyond me. It is starting to impact a number of the players that are young and Ainsley Maitland-Niles. Joe Willock and reiss Nelson came on and could not keep the ball.
It’s the supervisor’s responsibility. This must be resolved by him and come to some conclusion about the best way best to sort this out. Tierney, Bellerin, and Holding should play with I’d play with them and take a defeat if it meant they have the game time that they needed.
CHARLIE PREDICTS: 2-2 (12/1 with Sky Bet)
Astana will come and’park the’ bus’. Manchester United weren’t brilliant at the weekend, but it turned out to be a result – they almost stumbled however it’s about becoming the 3 points, in what was a game to yourselves, and they didn’t.
It will not make a big difference that Jesse Lingard and Paul Pogba were lost – they have not been setting the world on fire. It is not convincing with United but this is another game where they will get on the line, in fashion.
CHARLIE PREDICTS: 2-0 (5/1 with Sky Bet)
Nuno Espirito Santo will want to have one over in the Portuguese side. Braga are always dangerous but don’t travel well. Are caught up in the emotion of their Europa League? Because Chelsea thumped them, they took their foot off the pedal in Premier League.
They had been blown off at weekend and create errors and it had been really unlike them to concede five. They need to return to basics and find a win in from the Premier League, but this will be taken by Nuno seriously and I anticipate Wolves to become too powerful here, getting off to a start in the group stages.
CHARLIE PREDICTS: 2-0 (6/1 with Sky Bet)
Rennes have begun in Ligue 1. I am hoping that M’Baye Niang won’t be playing. He is lightning quick a lesser variant of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. These guys move and can play, and that is what Celtic fight against.
Celtic will be useful about the counter-attack, however their reputation is the same. They get frightened when they journey away from your home. They do not know where to pitch their defence and whether to play with a sport or not. They are going to have gifted players and pace out wide. Celtic nevertheless have defensive injuries and will not endanger here.
CHARLIE PREDICTS: 2-1 (17/2 with Sky Bet)
This will be a game that is roaring. Feyenoord have a solid reputation. Feyenoord have the passion but aren’t bringing the support they would always deliver. Rangers enjoy these nights which is why Steven Gerrard is there. They have not clicked into gear just yet however. The side of jaap Stam will sit for 20-25 minutes and this could lead to frustration about Ibrox – this is if they can pounce.
Alfredo Morelos is your threat along with Feyenoord will be turning him up to see whether they can get him. He looks a lot calmer than what he’s been before! It is not a simple night. It’ll be tense and physical. If Rangers really have the knowledge to make it through those games 16, I don’t know.
CHARLIE PREDICTS: 1-1 (5/1 with Sky Bet)
