Wicklow Brave retains unbeaten record over fences

Wicklow Brave is place to move following claiming his unbeaten record over fences with a relatively hard-fought victory from the Cheestrings Novice Chase.
Willie Mullins’ 10-year-old is currently a Group One winner in the Flat at the Irish St Leger and also a Grade One scorer over challenges in the Punchestown Champion Hurdle.
For a long way the affair actually only included two, together with Rachael Blackmore on Henry Bromhead’s Jan Maat always out-jumping the veteran.
Since Paul Townend began to row away approaching the second-last, which the favourite met slightly erroneous blackmore appeared the more assured of the 2 jockeys.
He was in it approaching the fence meeting with it and eventually wearing Jan Maat to win from three-quarters of a span.
Mullins explained:”Paul said he landed in the center of the very first fence and it upset him to get a circuit.
“He then got jumping well again, but exactly the exact identical fence on another circuit next time he made a mistake at, but his piece of class ultimately won him.
“That’s his last race side of the Atlantic for some time as we proceed to Far Hills for the Grand National Hurdle Stakes in October next. I’d have gone around October 4 on to Tipperary, however it is too close to the race that was American.
“That is our planthe race is just two miles and five furlongs and he’ll return on home soil for its Drinmore (Chase, Grade One in November).”
